I am an artist; you are an artist.
I am from a family of creatives, and am glad I don’t know any other way to be. Growing up, under the same roof were a graphic designer, a woodworker, a gifted musician, a videographer, and me, an artist. In my extended and ancestral family are chefs, bakers, card makers, and poets. It feels natural for me to alchemize ideas into tangible creations, and I feel blessed to be able to. I believe creating is medicine, whether it’s music, painting, cooking, writing, or building. I believe everyone is an artist at heart. Artistry doesn’t require drawing skills or the ability to make something that others approve of. Everyone has the ability to imagine; that’s all it takes. If you have an idea that you have imagined, and you think I am someone who can help you materialize it, please reach out.
Here are some fun facts about me!
In kindergarten I wrote both letters and words backwards, like a mirror reflection. I now see this was a sign on creativity and thinking in a creative, fun way.
I believe in the whimsical, and in lifelong play! Being an adult doesn’t mean we stop talking to creatures and nature. My art is very much a representation of childlike wonder.
I am mostly self-taught. I took one drawing and painting class at a local community college in order to get my art teaching degree, but otherwise have used my own curiosity to figure things out.
I am really inspired by music to create. I have been taking guitar lessons for a few years and it helps me tap into other parts of my brain.
I am in school to be a licensed counselor and art therapist and am excited to share the gift of art with others. Mental health is a part of every person that needs tending. Creativity can be one way to care for ourselves. I love learning about brain science and am happy more research is being done about creativity and the brain!
